Things to see and do.

A couple of things I haven’t seen but really must do before they close.  Anyone seen them already, liked them?

Stadtvisionen 1910 / 2010 at the TU’s Architektur Museum, till the 12th December.

Das Neue Berlin – Planen & Bauen seit 1989 at the Berlinische Galerie (seems to be semi-permament –  their website is keeping it top secret by making no mention of it at all).

By the way, the Architektur Galerie has added a Pdf to its newsletter listing key architecture exhibitions in Berlin. For some reason, I can get neither the Jpeg or Pdf to adhere to my blog or any sort of link, and they don’t include it on their own site, which is a shame (what’s with this secrecy thing lately?). But you could subscribe to it, if interested:

  1. Ha! I discovered Berlinische Galerie yesterday for the first time – yet still didn’t notice Das Neue Berlin.

Went for the DDR photos, which were a bit meh, but there’s a show of some guy called Hans Otto Schiller, or something similar, who was a stock photographer in 1920s, and commissioned to take loads of industrial photographs of Berlin power stations, plants and piping – which are fascinating. Plus he also did Hamburg harbour in the 1920s.

  2. Oh yes, K fancies seeing that I think. ‘Das Neue Berlin’ is a mystery – it was on the Architektur Galerie listings email, but with no dates. Not unusual for Berlin institutions’ websites to be wrong/incomplete, but maybe this time it just doesn’t exist?

Thanks for the Ritterstrasse IBA text btw! We never got that far on the last couple of tours, which is a shame, will review this for future ones.
